Challenge:

Elevated metal surface temperature and bulging in the main outlet header. Objective was to predict whether a cracked refractory will significantly impact the flow as well as the temperature of the components.

Solution:

Conducted field survey, technical review and performed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the area of concern to determine potential causes

Case 2: Reformer Roof Repair

Challenge:

Reformer roof repair required due to excessive corrosion and hole through which caused the Refractory Ceramic Fibres (RCF) modules to get wet and fall down.

Solution:

Complete roof panel replacement with new RCF modules with thinned and holed plates removed and recommendations to reduce/prevent corrosion.
